LEE,Junghwan

Junghwan Lee started studying piano at age six. In April 2009, he was a top prizewinner at the Kiwanis Music Festival, receiving first prizes from three categories, respectively Solo Concert, Piano Concerto, and Sight Reading. He was further awarded the Musical Arts Club Trophy, Kathleen Lett McLaine Memorial Scholarship, and Phyllis M. Osler Trophy for best musicianship in intermediate piano. He also placed third prize representing Ottawa at the Ontario Music Festivals Association Provincial Finals.
While studying at Seoul Arts High School, Yewon School, and the Music Academy of Seoul Arts Center, he won first prizes at the 30th Eumyoun Music Competition, the 18th Eumak Chunchu Concours, and the Seoul Youth Chamber Music Competition.
Junghwan Lee performed at the ‘Rising Stars – Performances by Young Artists’ from the 16th Ottawa International Chamber Music Festival, Festival Pontiac Enchanté, the 29th and 31st Young Musicians Festivals by Eumyoun, and the 7th and 8th Yewon Chamber Music Concerts. In May 2017, he gave his debut recital organized by Kumho Asiana Cultural Foundation, performing the works of Beethoven, Ravel, Chopin, and Prokofiev. In August 2019, he performed at the Final Gala Concert of the ‘Tel-Hai International Piano Master Classes’ at the Tel Aviv Museum of Art.
Junghwan Lee has studied with professors Choong Mo Kang, Young Ho Kim, Yoon Ju Oh, and Jean Desmarais. He is currently studying at Seoul National University with professor Aviram Reichert.
